"Schools We Can Believe In" Elected Leaders Pledge

At our citywide rally on Feb. 4, we will ask our elected leaders to sign this pledge.

Los Angeles is one of the greatest cities in the world. The parents of Los Angeles deserve public schools that match the greatness of our city. As a leader of this city, I commit to do all that I can to give the children of Los Angeles more schools that are highly effective and to elevate the importance of parental engagement to ensure we once again have Schools We Can Believe In!

To the parents of the Los Angeles Unified School District, I____________, pledge to:

1. Defend your right to choose the best public educational opportunity for your child; and
2. Enable you to be educated on all of the options available to you within our public school system; and
3. Support your right to hold all public schools accountable for educating your child at a high level; and
4. Protect your right to have your child's education funded at a fair and equitable level; and
5. Affirm your right to have access to safe, equitable, public school facilities for your child; and
6. Safeguard your right to demand that every high quality school, including public charter schools, are provided all of the support, resources and funding necessary to operate, continue to operate and expand to serve the children of Los Angeles.
7. Advocate for public education funding levels that demonstrate that the children of California are a state priority.
