Action Alert: Speak Out on AB 1172!

Last year, thanks to you and other charter school supporters, we stopped AB 1172 (Mendoza), a bill that would have put up more hurdles to new charters being approved. Now AB 1172 is back and set to be heard by the Assembly Education Committee on Jan. 11, 2012.

We need you to write the committee today to stop this bill!

AB 1172 would allow districts to reject a petition for a new charter school based on whether the charter would have "a negative fiscal impact on the district." We say that petitions should be evaluated on whether the new school will have a positive impact for students, not on whether it will have a negative impact on adults! Funding does not "belong" to either a charter school or a district; it belongs to the students that are being educated.

Stand up for California's charter schools and make your voice heard!
